Abel doesn't know how long he has been a vapmire. After a while with the Coven. Aro steps down and makes abel the leader of the Volturi. Marcus and Caius didn't approve of this so they are like elders along with Aro of the group. Abel goes to them anytime he needs help with anything. Now he is looknig for his true love as Aro and the others watch over things there.
